REPORT FROM THE WARPED TOUR 1998

Bitter Flesh Thing Causes Near Riot

After winning the Ernie Ball International Battle Of The Bands Competition for the Western & Central NY regions, upstate NY band Bitter Flesh Thing was asked to perform at the Vans Warped Tour 1998 at Buffalo's LaSalle Park on July 28, 1998.

Because of this band's reputation of having a strong live show, they were placed at one of the more ideal and coveted time slots for the concert. They performed at 3:45pm in between two of the show's main headline bands, Snapcase and the Deftones.

The show definitely rocked hard and received a great reception from the crowd of over 10,000 people. Appearing in full freak costume and make-up, BFT stirred the crowd into such a frenzy that they almost destroyed the barricade system set-up at the front of the stage, and left Zazu (lead vocals) shirtless after he dove into the crowd from stage. It took the security guards a few minutes of human tug-o-war to retrieve him from the mob. The drummer, Plato, appeared wearing his obligatory burlap bag over his head and Luscious (bass) and Leland Luther King (guitar) were adorned in all black with eerie white expressionless face masks. Definitely a sight to be seen. --The band covered 6 of the 7 songs from their debut CD and left the crowd literally screaming for more. The sound was huge and the band was tightly synced to it's intricately sequenced keyboard tracks. It was big, it was cool...and a little scary...
